Surrender Prayer

Lord, I want to walk in total submission and surrender to You, Your purpose, Your plan, and Your will. I know the first step to walking in surrender is to actively crucify my flesh. Right now, I choose to walk habitually in the Holy Spirit and to seek You and be responsive to Your guidance, and then I will not carry out the desire of the sinful nature which responds impulsively without regard for You and Your precepts. Galatians 5:16-17. I will lay down all rebellion and control because they are the opposite of submission.

I will allow You to fully work in my heart and heal every area so that I do not allow hurt to cause me to walk in rebellion to You, Your direction, and Your Word. I fully acknowledge that I do not have all the answers. Your ways are higher than mine, and I will refrain from questioning why You do the things that You do. Isaiah 59:8-9. I will walk by faith and not by sight and know that You see the full picture from beginning to end. 2 Corinthians 5:7. Your plans are perfect and they cannot fail. I will trust You with my entire life. I will not lean on my own understanding and I will acknowledge You in all of my ways. Proverbs 3:5-6.

I ask You to search my heart and show me any unrepented sins. I do not want to hold anything back. I repent of anything that I have done that hurts Your heart. You held nothing back from me when You died on the cross and now I will not hold anything back from You. Anything that You tell me to give up I will willingly lay it down at Your feet.

I ask You to remove any pride from my heart because I know pride is an enemy of surrender. Everything good in me comes from You and I am noting without You. All abilities I have come from Your hand. I refuse pride and choose to walk in humility. I humble myself before Your mighty throne because I know You resist the proud, but give grace to the humble. James 4:10; Proverbs 3:34. I need You grace in my life, Lord.
Lord, I lay down all fear because You did not give me a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but You have given me a spirit of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline that are abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7. I refuse to let fear hinder my life or my walk with You in any way. I am free from fear and I will never let it run my life again.

I refuse to let self-pity justify any feelings or actions that are not pleasing to You. I will not get stuck in a victimhood mentality, and I will always hold myself accountable for my actions. If Your Word says to do something I will do my best to do it, and if it says to not do something I will do my best to not do it—in every situation, no matter how I feel. I can search the Word over and over and I know I will not find exceptions to sin and/or not submit to You no matter what I have been through or what others have done or said to me.

I lay down all shame and guilt because I know once I pray for forgiveness those sins are cast as far as the east is from the west. Psalms 103:12. I fully know the voice of condemnation tries to heap guilt and shame on my head to make me run away from You. I refuse to let that happen. I fully accept Your conviction, but I resist condemnation. I will not let the enemy convince me that You do not love me. God, You loved me so much You sent Your Son to die for me. John 3:16. Jesus, You loved me so much You laid Your life down for me. John 15:13. I will never forget Your sacrifice and I will never take it lightly.

I refuse to entertain negative critical thoughts or attitudes because I know they are the enemy of everything Godly. They are the opposite of Your character and as I surrender my all to You I want to be more like You. I will refrain from grumbling and complaining. Numbers 11:1-15. I will be grateful in all circumstances and thankful for Your goodness toward me. I will enter Your courts with thanksgiving and praise. Psalm 100:4.

Jesus, You are my perfect example of surrender. When you walked the earth You were fully submitted to God in every way and because of that I want to fully follow Your example. John 14:10; John 12:49-50; Luke 22:41-42.Lord, I will pick up my cross daily and die to self. I will deny my wants and desire and follow after You. I will conform to Your example in living and if need be in suffering. My hope, faith, and trust is fully in You. Matthew 16:24.

I will take the time to sit at Your feet to really get to know You. At Your feet is where I develop a personal one on one relationship with You. I will spend time talking to You and then listening to what You want to say to me. I will not just come to You when I am in need and with a long list of requests. I will also dedicate time to spend with You the same way I would my best friend. I ask You to make me more like You as I sit at Your feet and learn from You. Luke 10:38-42.

Father, I present my body to You as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing, which is my rational, logical, intelligent act of worship to You. And I will not be conformed to this world any longer with its superficial values and customs, but I will be transformed and progressively changed as I mature spiritually by the renewing of my mind by focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes, so that I may prove what the will of God is in my life, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:1-2. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
