Psalm 16:11 “You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.”
What this scripture really means to me:
When we seek God and ask Him He will show us the path He has for us in our lives. He is interested in every single detail and every single step we take. When we fully submit our steps to Him He will clearly show us the path to our lives that He has laid out for us, His plan, His steps, His purpose for us.
When we step into His presence there is fullness of His joy. No matter what we are facing or going through we can enter His presence through praise and prayer and in that place His joy flows freely for us. We can carry His joy with us every single day and walk in His peace. No matter what life looks like or how chaotic it gets…in His presence is joy. The key to daily walking in His joy is being in His presence and never leaving.
The pleasures that He has for us are eternal. This life is just the blink of an eye, but we get to spend eternity with Him, in His presence where death, sin, and pain will never touch our lives again!
I love to read scripture and apply it to my life. The Word is living and it is for today. It will change our lives if we take the time to sit with it and ask the Lord to show us how to apply it to our lives. It is not just a story about things that happened a long time ago. It is our roadmap to living. No matter what we are facing we can find guidance, healing, correction, and life in His Word.
We don’t read His Word to check a box off our to do list. We read to connect with the one true living God. The Creator of all things. When we read His Word we are reading His voice. He speaks directly to our hearts and our lives through the Bible. There is nothing that can replace our time spent in His Word.
If you do not regularly read the Bible I want to encourage you to start a reading plan. If you have never read it before and you do not know where to start begin in the New Testament in Matthew. The four gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are all about the life of Jesus. They will connect you with His heart as you learn more about His life and how He taught, loved, and died for all of us. After you finish the four gospels just move right on through the New Testament.
When you sit down to read start with prayer. Ask God to use His Word to teach you and also ask Him to give you understanding of His Word. As you read go slowly and really let His Words go deep into your spirit and your understanding. If there are words you do not understand pause and look them up. If there are cultural aspects you do not understand look them up as well. Soak in His Word and allow it to change your life.
