Deliverance Defined
Deliverance is necessary when a demon has gained legal rights to your live through personal or generational sin, word curses, inner vows, and/or ungodly soul ties. The preparation for the deliverance session (Pre Session-Packet) removes the legal rights of the enemy and closes all open doors to the demons. During the deliverance session the demons are verbally cast out of your body in the name of Jesus.
What Deliverance Takes Care Of
When you use the Pre Session-Packet for a lot of prayer prior to the session it closes the doors to the demons and removes their legal rights to your body. Then when you go through the deliverance session it removes the demons from your body. The deliverance session moves the spiritual warfare attacks from the inside of your body to the outside. It helps tremendously with the intrusive thoughts, compulsions, and the physical and mental torment created by the demons.
Deliverance can also help remove blockages between you and God. Many times when demons are present it can make it difficult to hear God’s voice clearly, pray, and read His Word. Once the demons are gone it can help to remove those hinderances. It also helps expose the lies of the enemy because it helps make them much easier to recognize.
The entire deliverance session is a fight, and it is your fight. The minister is there to help you with the fight, but you must come to the session with the attitude you will not take the attacks of the enemy any longer and the demons must leave. It is not a passive stance, but instead it is very aggressive and firm.
What Deliverance Does Not Take Care Of
It is not a cure all and it is not a quick fix. Deliverance does not fix every single issue you face in life. It does remove the demons from your body, but there are likely other areas of your life that will also need to be addressed.
It does not stop all spiritual warfare. We live in a world with an enemy that only wants to kill, steal, and destroy us. Deliverance does not end the spiritual warfare. It is much easier to fight the demons once they are no longer in your body, but you will still have fights and battles. You will need to use your weapons of warfare to stand against the attacks. It is also important to recognize the tactics of the enemy so you will know when you are under demonic attacks.
It does not remove temptations. You will still have temptations, and you will need to recognize them, avoid them, and ask the Lord to help you overcome them. They will not just disappear. It is an area that will take work, discipline, and determination.
It does not crucify your flesh, it does not cause you to walk in surrender, and it does not cause you to be disciplined. Those are areas you will have to work on in your personal walk with the Lord.
It does not keep the doors to the demons closed. Whatever doors were opened to the demons in your life you will need to keep closed.
It does not take the place of healing. If you have had trauma, hurt, abandonment, or rejection you may still need to seek healing through Christian counseling or other avenues.
It does not change patterns, habits, behaviors, or negative thought patterns. You will need to work at recognizing and breaking negative behaviors, thoughts, and habits.
It does not replace the lies of the enemy. Once the lies are removed, they must be replaced with the truth found in God’s Word.
It does not automatically cause you to walk in the identity given to you by God. You will need to spend time asking Him who He created you to be and what purpose He has for your life.
Recognizing If You Are Ready for Deliverance: Self Reflection
What is your level of surrender? Are you ready to lay everything down at the feet of Jesus? Are you ready to give Him your whole life, holding nothing back?
Are you ready to give up addictions and put God first in your life?
Do you want it for the right reasons? What are your reasons?
Are you determined to get free? Are you ready to fight?
Are you desperate for freedom?
Are you humble?
Do you have the ability to take a real look at your life, actions, and choices? Are you ready to be honest with yourself and God?
Are you ready to keep the demons out and the doors of your life closed?
Your Responsibility After Deliverance
Your relationship with God, and surrender to Him must be number one in your life. Not in a legalistic way, but out of love and devotion to Him. A relationship takes work, and you must put in the effort to walk in a close relationship with Him.
Make sure you do not fall into the trap of only focusing on demons and deliverance. When you have lived with a lot of torment it can be easy to get hyper focused on demons, warfare, and deliverance. However, you really need to stay focused on God. We must recognize we have an enemy, understand the tactics of the enemy, and use spiritual warfare against their attacks, but that part can never become our number one focus. That is the place for God and only God.
You must change habits, break negative patterns, and pull down every single stronghold in your mind. Once demons are gone there are usually left-over negative patterns, habits, and strongholds in your mind. You will need to work to recognize them and then change them.
You should seek healing if it is needed. If you have areas of unhealed pain, I strongly suggest finding a Christian therapist to help you process the situation and fully heal.
Discipline in your life is a must. You will need to study the Word of God, spend time in prayer, do your best to apply the principles of the Bible to your life, and set aside time to spend with God.
It is important to understand spiritual warfare and use your weapons of warfare as needed. Never forget you have an enemy that wants to kill, steal, and destroy you, but you are not left weaponless. Use the authority given to you by Jesus to walk in victory.
Avoid legalism. Don’t fall into living in fear of opening doors to demons. Living a surrendered life to God keeps the doors closed. You do not have to walk around in fear because that is also bondage.
Recognize you will still go through battles, trials, test, and wilderness times. It doesn’t necessarily mean you are doing something wrong or that you are demonized again. The Bible says we will go through difficult situations, but we are also told we are never alone. He is with us and in Him we find our victory.
Walk in the identity given to you by God. Seek Him and ask Him who He made you to be and what purpose He has for you. Resist any character traits that are not from Him and any that are based on the lies of the enemy. The enemy has tried to form you for years, and God has stripped those lies off. Now is the time to walk in who you are in Him and in the identity that He has given you.
Refuse to be a victim. Break out of victimhood mentality and leave in the past. You are a new creation in Christ.
Seek more deliverance if needed. Many times full deliverance happens in layers and it can be a process.
