Choose God

On the good days choose Him, and on the bad days choose Him!

When we are on the mountain and everything is going great it can be easy to get lax in our relationship with God. We can easily just sail through life, but we can never forget about our Father who wants a relationship with us. A relationship takes two people. It takes work, focus, and time. If both people are not working together on the relationship it can quickly grow cold and the two can become strangers. We need Him on the mountain just as much as we need Him in the valley.

Being in the valley is often our make it or break it moment. We can choose to lean into the Lord or we can choose to run from Him. We can get angry, bitter, and resentful because we do not understand why we are facing the situation we are in. The demons will always be quick to whisper lies saying God has left us, doesn’t care about us, we are not good enough for Him to help, or He has failed us. In those moments we must verbally command their voices to be silent in the name of Jesus.

Practical Tips for Valley Situations

Prayer: Your relationship with God is what will get you through this season. Your flesh and the demons will do their best to pull you away from Him, but you must fight your flesh and them to stay in close contact with God. Your prayer life is so important and it has to be priority. Put it at the top of your to do list and even when you do not feel like talking to Him, do it anyway. Tell Him exactly how you feel. He already knows, but He wants to hear it from you.

Bible: Get in the Word everyday. Read the scriptures over your life and use them against the enemy. The Psalms is a great place to start when you are feeling low. His Word is powerful and when we speak it the spiritual atmosphere starts to shift.

Surrender: Take a moment for honest self-reflection and ask yourself how surrendered you are to Him. Is there anything you are holding back? Do you really trust Him? We will never fully submit to someone we do not trust. If you have trust issues with Him-tell Him. Sit with Him until you can fully trust Him. Once you fully trust Him, submit total control of your life to Him. Do a Bible study about the character of God to build your faith and trust in Him.

Spiritual Warfare: We have an enemy that does not play fair. The demons hate us and they will always try to kick us when we are down. We must wear the full armor of God daily, and verbally confront the demons that are trying to attack us. We need to run them off our territory, and silence their attacks with the authority given to us by Jesus.
