Seek God First

We go through times when we are on the mountain where everything is going smooth. And then we go through times where we are in the valley and life gets hard. We all face battles and how we handle those battles can make or break our relationship with the Lord. We call allow the circumstances to drive a wedge between us and God. If we allow that to happen, we can become bitter, angry, and resentful. Or we can also allow those circumstances to drive us closer to God. We can allow Him to use them to grow our faith and solidify our relationship with Him. He can also use them to grow us and make the needed changes in our lives.

A while ago in prayer I was asking the Lord what I should do and I was also asking Him for clarity on some issues. I heard His voice so clearly and He said to Seek Him first. No matter what we are facing or what we are going through we must seek Him first. No matter if we are on the mountain or in the valley, we must seek Him.

I want to encourage you to seek Him. No matter what you are facing stop what you are doing and spend time with Him. Talk to Him and spend time listening to what He wants to say to you. Prayer is a two-way street. It is communication. We talk to Him and then we must also listen to Him. Any relationship takes communication or it isn’t really a relationship. We cannot just let others tell us about Him. We must learn about Him for ourselves and the way we do that is by spending time with Him in prayer (talking and listening) and also by reading the Bible.

Be totally honest with Him. Tell Him exactly how you are feeling and pour your heart out to Him. Time spent with Him will heal your heart and help you through your battle.

Matthew 6:33 But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.

1 Chronicles 16:11 Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face continually [longing to be in His presence].

Proverbs 8:17 “I love those who love me; And those who seek me early and diligently will find me.

Jeremiah 29:13 Then [with a deep longing] you will seek Me and require Me [as a vital necessity] and [you will] find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

Deuteronomy 4:29 But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul.
