Lies

Genesis 3:1-6 Now the serpent was more crafty (subtle, skilled in deceit) than any living creature of the field which the Lord God had made. And the serpent (Satan) said to the woman, “Can it really be that God has said, ‘You shall not eat from [b]any tree of the garden’?” And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees of the garden, except the fruit from the tree which is in the middle of the garden. God said, ‘You shall not eat from it nor touch it, otherwise you will die.’” But the serpent said to the woman, “You certainly will not die! For God knows that on the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened [that is, you will have greater awareness], and you will be like God, knowing [the difference between] good and evil.” And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was delightful to look at, and a tree to be desired in order to make one wise and insightful, she took some of its fruit and ate it; and she also gave some to her husband with her, and he ate.

In Genesis 3:1-6 we can clearly see one of the main tactics of the enemy and how satan and his demons operate. They use temptation, lies, and twisting of God’s Word to try to get us to question God, His goodness, His truth, and His Word. The demons start with a temptation that includes a lie. They try to get us to take our eyes off God and believe something that is not true.

They say things like “just a little bit of this won’t hurt you, God won’t care if you just do it this one time, surely God doesn’t want you to give this up, that isn’t really what the Bible means, God wants you to do what makes you happy, etc.” If we entertain those conversations (thoughts) before long we start dwelling on them, analyzing them, and the line between the truth and the lie gets really blurry. Before long the thing we used to recognize as a lie starts to look really good. The next step is falling for the lie and accepting it as truth and then we find ourselves in a pattern of sin. It is not a sin to be tempted, but what we do with that temptations determines if we fall into sin or not. It also determines if we come into agreement with a lie that we allow to become our truth.

We must stop the process the moment the temptation and lie is whispered to us. That is the moment we must immediately pull the lie down, replace it with the truth found in God’s Word, and verbally command the demon to be silent in the name of Jesus. If we sit with it for too long we can easily end up with the forbidden thing in our hand.

We also need to come out of agreement with every lie we have accepted as truth.

Breaking the Power of Lies in Your Life

Recognize the Lies: Sit with God and ask Him to begin to show you any lies that you have accepted as truth. Make a list of every lie. Part of learning to recognize the lies is understanding God will never contradict His Word. If It goes against His Word you can automatically know it is a lie.

Come Out of Agreement:  After you have your list spend time coming out of agreement with every single lie and moving forward make sure you do not come into agreement with any more lies.

Agreement with lies means believing them and accepting them as truth.

Pray and ask God to break the agreement with the lie, uproot any effects or false beliefs connected to the lie, and heal any areas of your heart that need to be healed.

Verbally Break agreement with the lie. For example, “ Lord, please forgive me for believing the lie that (say the lie). I will no longer accept the lie as truth. It is a lie. So right now in the name of Jesus I break the agreement with (lie) and the truth is (speak the truth).”

Command any demons connected to the lie to go in the name of Jesus.

Moving forward take every single thought captive, every single time.

If you are in the Facebook Fullness of Joy Ministry group you can go to the files tab and download it from there. From this page you would probably have to copy and paste it into a Word document and then print from there.
