Testimony Series

This testimony was written by Patty Johnston.

How many times do we feel that God is telling us to step out and do something, but fear holds us back? I remember when I got baptized in 1994, I was so nervous and scared. All day I kept praying for God to take that feeling away from me, but He didn’t. So we go to church and I’m sitting there waiting for my turn and I was so nervous and scared. Then it was my turn and the exact moment my foot went into the water, all that fear and anxiety left.

The next day I was praying and I asked God why He didn’t take it away earlier that day when I first prayed and asked Him to. He said because it wasn’t until I was in front of everybody that I needed it to be gone and that I should have trusted Him to be there at that exact moment to help me through.

He removed the fear at the exact moment I needed it removed. I have always remembered that day. There were times we needed money to pay bills and I would pray, but I knew I could trust Him to provide when it was needed. So I didn’t have to stress and worry days before the bill was due because I knew He would make a way at the right moment.

God is so faithful to us. I thank Him for teaching me that I can trust Him.
