Verse: God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty. 1 Corinthians 1:27.
Original Translation: ‘weak’ in Greek is asthene. It means feeble or powerless. The word is used to describe things that would be inferior.
At the time in history this was written Christians were looked at as being a weak and second rate group of religious morons by the Roman Empire. Not so different to how the media and others view Christians today. We have an enemy that wants the world to view Christians as weak, unloving, unkind, and having no compassion for others.
Original Translation: ‘confound’ is kataishuno. It means to shame, disgrace, dishonor, or humiliate. It can also mean to confuse, frustrate, or baffle.
‘Mighty’ is dunatoi. It refers to those who have political power. This would be the senior levels of civil and military officers.
At that time in history it was the political realm of people that wanted to wipe out all Christians. But we know that these powerful political forces did not wipe the Christians out. Throughout the Bible we see God using people that the world would say were weak and inferior. Almost everyone knows the story of David and Goliath. God used the most unlikely choice to defeat the giant.
Never consider yourself too weak, too small, less than, not enough, because God can use you to do great things for Him; things that will leave others baffled and confused.

So many times we may feel that God is calling us to do something, but we immediately look at ourselves and feel inadequate and like we do not have the ability to do what He has told us to do.
Moses did the exact same thing. In Exodus chapter three God told Moses that He had an amazing plan for His children and that He was going to use Moses to lead them out of captivity. The first thing Moses did was to list the reason why he was not qualified to answer the calling God put on HIs life. I think we often do the same thing. We look to ourselves and not to God and His ability.
I want to encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and do the things God has called you to do….even the hard things! Especially the hard things! Because when you cannot possibly do what He has called you to do you are forced to rely fully on Him and His ability and that is a beautiful place to be! It is a place of true breakthrough, change, and kingdom business. Lean on Him and don’t try to do it alone. You are not called to walk alone. The Spirit of the one true living God is inside of you. He is always with you and He wants you to rely fully on Him and His might.
Blessings,
