Testimony Series

I was raised in a christian background, but I never took God serious. To me God wasn’t so real.

My name is Ehirim Christianctus. I am a Nigerian from the great Igbo tribe. Born as the first son in the family of four, made me to accept full responsibility for my life.

Growing up was a mixed experience.

My parents did everything possible to make sure I follow the path of God but all to no avail.

My future was the only thing that gave me concern. I wanted to be a professor in mathematics. I was so determined to be an academician because I believed I had the potential.

At a very relatively young age, most of my teachers in college began to show interest in me, especially, my maths teacher. He would always call me out on the whiteboard to solve some arithmetic problems.

I had walked to the whiteboard as a super star while I levelled out the question with confidence and simplicity.

I was loved by all and sundry.

I thought to become great, I just need to study my books. Well, that is true, but not the absolute truth.

Education is one of the tools for becoming great, but cordial relationship with God is the cheapest path to greatness. Perhaps, I will learn my lesson in a hard way.

I was about to graduate from college and I had to sit for a compulsory exam.Dad had done all he could to get money for my registration. There was no positive turn up.

It was too obvious that the devil was against me. Indeed, we aren’t fighting against flesh and blood!

A few days to the exam, the school Administrator called me and asked “Chris, what is wrong, why have you not registered for your exams? I couldn’t give a response. I was dumbfounded. You got to start praying. He advised me.

Prayer, do I need to beg God before he answers my prayer? I wondered. He continued as if he heard the question. With prayer you can change things.

When I got home that very day. I asked God to forgive me for not taking him serious. I also asked that He should come to my aid by giving my Dad money to register me for this exam.

The prayer was so short.

God responded miraculously. Dad had received financial favour from Uncle Bob, his elder brother. Before the commencement of the exam, dad got me registered.

Praise the Lord! Prayer truly works. Education is good but spiritual education is the greatest.

It is amazing what God does in our lives when we fully surrendered every area to Him and stop trying to figure it out on our own.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart And do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].

Blessings,
Nichole Henson
